Feb 11th and 12th - Shooting commences at Rahway Prison in New Jersey
Feb 13th - Atlantic City filming starts at the Trump Marina casino in the Baccarat pit in a scene involving Clooney sitting at Bernie Mac's table. For anybody interested, Clooney apparently wore a beige houndstooth blazer and maroon dress shirt, open at the collar.
Feb 14th - Atlantic City White House Sub Shop (Clooney and Mac)
Feb 17th/18th - Chicago (Clooney and Matt Damon) on the "El" train and also in Emmitts Irish Bar
Late February (20th onwards) - St.Petersburg Florida racetrack and circus scenes (Clooney, Pitt, and Carl Reiner)
March 2nd to 13th - Palm Springs scenes (all cast except Roberts and Garcia)
Mid-March for 5 weeks to the end of April comprising Las Vegas scenes... - April 6th and 7th comprised the faked boxing match at the MGM Grand. The set was already in place effectively as "Prince" Naseem Hamed was fighting Marco Barrera there on the 7th.
- Elliot Gould and Casey Affleck have filmed scenes at the helicopter terminal at the airport
- The Bellagio cashier cage has been replicated within the hotel itself for filming
- Other Bellagio shooting took place at the front desk and the porte cochere (a.k.a. the front entrance). Don Cheadle has filmed scenes where he drives a van up to the entrance.
- Clooney, Reiner, and Gould filmed on Monday the 26th of March at the Las Vegas Country Club
- Other confirmed Vegas locations are night-time shots outside the Four Seasons Hotel (which itself is self-contained within the top few floors of the Mandalay Bay Hotel), and also outside the Flamingo. The Four Seasons filming might involve the famous Welcome To Las Vegas sign as it's in the middle of the road outside the hotel. Alternatively, the airport is across the road so this might have been the scheduled night-time shoot which took place at the heliport. The specific heist hotels have been confirmed as being the Bellagio, Mirage, and MGM Grand (which conveniently are all owned by the same company).
- 26th of March also saw filming at the Barbary Coast hotel which is diagonally across from the Bellagio
- Julia Roberts started filming on the 27th of March
- The 29th saw the Bellagio man-hole cover scenes detailed in filming locations quotes page
- The scenes showing Julia Roberts "blowing up" the New York New York hotel have been shot with Andy Garcia. I'm not spoiling anything here as it seems to be an organised demolition (see photos page)
- Aerial shots of the Bellagio were filmed on the 5th of April
- Roberts and Garcia have also filmed scenes for the boxing match, including greeting Vegas celebrities such as Siegfried and Roy, Wayne Newton, and also Danny Gans
- Garcia and Damon filmed scenes on the Bellagio casino-floor on Sunday the 8th of April also featuring celebrity impersonators i.e. Michael Jackson etc. Brad Pitt was spotted playing the slot machines in the casino alongside other guests
- On the 12th of April filming took place at "Crazy Horse Too" in Vegas which is a strip club no less. It was shut all day for the shoot at a cost of $100,000 to the producers (although this was apparently returned as the publicity is priceless). The shooting revolved around Brad Pitt's character who apparently possesses a VIP card for the club
- On the 16th filming took place at Las Vegas airport taxi rank
- Final Vegas scenes to be shot involved most of the gang standing outside the Bellagio on the 18th
- After leaving Vegas there was a 2 day location shoot in Irvine, California. The location was the University Of California campus there. I've received an e-mail which says "...They are filming part of Ocean's Eleven here (UC Irvine College Of Medicine) The crew are scheduled to be here April 19-20, 2001. There are numerous trailers in our parking lot. That is all I know." See the filming reports page for a bit more info. George Clooney, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, Casey Affleck and Scott Caan were all spotted there.
- There was then a day's location filming somewhere in Santa Monica. See the filming photos page for pics of this (thanks to Ramy Stephanos for this info and the star sightings above)
- Soundstage filming has taken place in LA (Universal Studios and Warner Bros) of Benedict's (Andy Garcia's) offices and some casino interiors. Because of other movies committed to these soundstages however, some filming thereafter took place at 2 studios in Orlando Florida. Some more location filming also reportedly took place towards the end of the shoot to tie up some loose ends. www.darkhorizons.com has reported the following from a source regards the return to Florida..."I work not far from Derby Lane in St. Petersburg Florida. I noticed that Derby Lane has the circus tent back up outside and many trailers. It is my understanding that they are planning to reshoot/finish some shots for Ocean's Eleven. I have not heard yet what exactly they plan to film or who will be in town though. Rumor has it that Brad Pitt will be in town possibly"...This would be of course be reshoots for the Brad Pitt scenes also with the acrobats which ended in injury in February
- Clooney and Pitt then filmed a few scenes in Hollywood nightclub "The Deep", made up to look like it was in Vegas. Here's an interior pic to give you an idea of the place...
- Florida studio filming then continued with some six reshoots even having to be reshot due to a can of film getting ruined after being left in the sun
- www.darkhorizons.com has also reported that filming took place outside of Rahway prison in New Jersey on the 13th of June. This was 2nd unit shooting as the first unit arrives on the 15th for three days of filming (presumably with Clooney and Roberts). Thanks to "Tom Devoe" for the above specifics and the following...
- Reshoots were rumoured to be taking place in Orlando Florida as late as September (i.e in September, not up till then) as Soderbergh wanted to film additional scenes and alternate takes and versions of two scenes. This was resulting from Hollywood actor's strike action scheduled for the 30th of June but which was planned to be finished by September anyway.
- The shoot is otherwise now finished for late-June but any other info will be put here and there will also of course be official publicity etc. which will go on the Promotions page so keep checking back...
